OSU,

Dear Members,

Kaicho and myself visited Moscow to give seminars and to make the tests for Dan Grades.

On arrival at Moscow we were met by Hanshi Yury Federishin, Shihan Michael Kokin and Sensei Arunas, after which we were treated to a crazy drive through the capital city of Moscow.

I last visited Moscow some 20 years ago now when it was a very gloomy place to be, but this time I was very pleasantly surprised to see how it had changed in two decades.

The first evening we went to the nightclub/restaurant of Hanshi Sergey Badyuk, and then after a good diner we go to sleep.

The second day we visited the Kremlin and the red square and then made time to prepare for the seminar held in the dojo of  Shihan Konstantin Bely, who has recently  changed his style from pure Kyokushin to kickboxing and all round he also works himself self as a promoter of events.

The seminar was lead by me because Kaicho wanted to introduce me as the new Kancho and wanted me to show my way of teaching.

The seminar was over two hours and I was very happy to learn that the students enjoy this way of teaching and the style of all round.

After that we went to a very nice restaurant owned by a good friend of the Russian IBK family, and here they taught me how to drink the Russian vodka (40 % pfffff ). Me, Hanshi Yuty and Shihan Michael gave it a hard shot and I believe I am now a 10th Dan vodka drinker in Russian style.

The third day we got the Dan tests held at the Dojo of the Judo legend and 8th Dan member of the IBK Hanshi Sergey Kosorotov. 40 students were present and Hanshi Badyuk and Hanshi Federishin prepared the Dan Grade test.

After 4 hours of demonstrative techniques they go for the 30, 40 and 50 man Kumite and believe me, I have never seen this way of fighting and yet with such humility too. The power-pack machine, Hanshi Federishin showed his skills and hard Kumite, and I can tell everyone that Kaicho was 100% right - pure fighters in the biggest way.

People where getting KO’s but stood up and fought again, even though the temperature in the dojo rose to 45 degrees, no one quit or gave up.

The hells Angels of Moscow who are members of the IBK and almost all black belts were fighting in the Kumite and show the greatest of respect to Kaicho and me (and guys thanks for the presents). Their president showed how to be a real president when he fought side by side with his brothers in the Kumite - Mr president you have my respect.

After this Shihan Kokin was promoted to 8th Dan and Shihan Konstantin to 7th Dan and Sensei Aranus to 5th Dan – Men, congratulations you deserve it!

After that we went to a famous fish restaurant to dine discus the future of the IBK in Russia. Kaicho and I then decided that Hanshi Sergey Badyuk will be the honorary Kancho of the Russian IBK and Hanshi Yury Federishin will be the Operational Director of our union, and will be officially assisted by Hanshi Kokin and Shihan Konstantin.

The Last day we visit the Orthodox Church of Moscow, lead by the Patriarch and rebuilt in the 90’s after it was destroyed in the Stalin period.

I was given the honour of being the first foreigner in history to ring the big bell. Believe me, I am REALLY proud of this and want to thank all of those that made it possible OSU.

During this weekend Hanshi Kosorotv (former world Judo champion) told us that he had been very ill this year, however he was successfully treated by a hospital in Nurnberg Germany. Stiil after such a bad time he had recovered enough to win the European team championship in Judo. Hanshi you are a great man and have become the biggest, most respected sportsman I have ever met OSU.

For Siberia we now have Shihan Bychkov and Shihan Arunas, Kaicho and I expelled Geirgy Astafyef who has stolen 200 certificates (the whole story you can read on Kaicho’s website soon).

To the leaders of the IBK Russia, the member of MC HA Moscow, and the members of IBK Russia thank you all for your spirit, loyalty, respect and hospitality shown to Kaicho and me.

A big OSU

Kancho
